I‘m an Interface Designer and Web Developer from Germany. Here are some example of my work at my one-man company

Who I am and what I do

My name is Christoph and I’m an Interface Designer, Web Designer, Web Developer, Graphic Designer, Media Designer—down to my whim and according to requirements. Or, in other words, I just want to make things work fine while still looking beautiful. That’s what I do at my one-man-company ZILLGENSDESIGN.

Focussing on the frontend, I try to push the limits of what you can achieve with HTML and CSS. Foremost the new possibilities with CSS3 are a great playground.

Based in the outermost west of Germany, a half-hour-drive away from the bigger cities Aachen and Dusseldorf, I enjoy my life in the countryside together with my girlfriend Sarah, no pets and surrounded by friendly, adorable villagers, who are said to be a little bit out of their mind.

Behind the curtain

Backend

This website is powered by Textpattern, a light-weight and (not always) easy to use content managemet system. It is not as famous as wordpress and quite different in how it handels templates and output, but it is worth a trial. What I like most is the fact that version updates are seldom and well-considered and as far as I know there hasn’t been the need for security updates up to now. Also, it runs really fast. The community is really kind and helpful!

Frontend

I use some HTML5 on this website like some of the new elements that provide a more semantic way of marking up the content. Combined with some CSS3 you also need fewer CSS-classes in your markup. A Problem is, of course, the Internet-Explorer, who is not able to understand any HTML5 or CSS3 stuff. But luckily we have some little Javscript called Modernizr that solves this problem.

If you’ve any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
